Job Description

Greenlane Renewables Inc., headquartered in metro Vancouver, Canada, is a pioneer in the rapidly growing renewable natural gas (“RNG”) industry. As a leading global provider of biogas upgrading systems, we are helping to clean up two of the largest and most difficult-to-decarbonize sectors of the global energy system: the natural gas grid and the commercial transportation sector. Our systems produce clean, low-carbon and carbon-negative renewable natural gas (RNG) from organic waste sources including landfills, wastewater treatment plants, dairy farms, and food waste. Greenlane is the only biogas upgrading company offering the three main technologies: water wash, pressure swing adsorption and membrane separation and has over 30 years industry experience, patented proprietary technology, over 100 hydrogen sulfide treatment systems sold, and over 135 biogas upgrading systems sold into 19 countries, including many of the largest RNG production facilities in the world. Greenlane is a publicly-traded company on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX: GRN).

The Mechanical Engineer will work closely within the Engineering team and will be integral in the planning, engineering and execution of Greenlane product development and project execution. The successful candidate will coordinate with various internal stakeholders to ensure engineering deliverables are high quality and delivered on-time and within scope of budget.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:


• Prepare models and drawings of plant, equipment and piping using SolidWorks and CADWorx.

• Create and interpret engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and detailed mechanical designs of biogas upgrading equipment. Check and edit drawings.

• Contribute to piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) for the system layout.

• Confirm system consistency between 3D models, BOM, and drawings.

• Work with external vendors to ensure designs and documentation have required information with the correct level of quality. Support the fabrication process and assist with final factory acceptance testing when necessary.

• Ensure the design solution meets the client outcome requirements and is of sufficient detail to meet the manufacturer’s requirements with clear definition of scope.

• Understand and ensure that the design meets all applicable industry codes and standards for the designs, and that all Greenlane designs are well documented.

• Active participation in the certification process for equipment and piping per design codes and regulations applicable to multiple jurisdictions depending on site location.

• Interface with internal and external customers to develop or understand specifications.

• Troubleshoot field reported issues and enact changes as needed to optimize performance and reliability.

• Follow sound engineering practice regarding documentation development and management, document control, change management.

• Assist in reviewing and summarizing relevant process codes and regulations for input into company design processes.

• Manage and work with external service providers to ensure that engineering related work is of sufficient quality.


Education & Experience:


• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 5 years’ related experience.

• P.Eng designation is an asset

• Experience with SolidWorks is required. Experience with CADWorx is a strong asset.

• Experience with PDM/PLM systems is an asset

• Experience with modelling piping and weldments in a 3D CAD environment

• Engineering and industrial product development experience, preferably in the oil & gas or renewable industry.

• Experience with ASME pressure piping (ASME B31.3) and pressure vessels (ASME Section VIII Div. 1)

• Working knowledge of design cases that require further structural or stress analysis.

• Practical understanding of manufacturing, design & engineering processes with the ability to analyze and solve problems.

• Can-do attitude, and an ability to foster teamwork and work effectively with cross functional teams.

• Self-starter, highly motivated with a keen desire to get things done.

• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

• Strong knowledge of engineering instrumentation.

• Outstanding oral and written communications skills.

• Hands-on experience with mechanical and electrical equipment assembly and troubleshooting.

• Decision making ability, with excellent planning and problem solving skills.

• Must be able to manage and prioritize various activities from multiple projects simultaneously

• A reputation for having sound business ethics and integrity.

• Some travel may be required
