We are currently providing an opportunity for a well-rounded safety focused individual to join our team in the position of Mechanical Assembly Technician at our Brookside Manufacturing Facility.


About the Position:


Aside from the excitement of working in a busy manufacturing facility, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position include:


  • Plan and carry out work assignments and handle problems
  • Conduct end of assembly function and performance verification tests and adjust assembled systems to meet performance specifications;
  • Work with many different parts and materials (Steel, fasteners, rubber, wood, etc.);
  • Foster a team environment and create a “group culture”;
  • Set hydraulic pressures, flows, and other system adjustments to ensure assembled equipment meets specifications;
  • Assemble/test specially designed equipment for recovering and processing de-icing fluids to ensure proper working condition;
  • Disassemble and rebuild component assemblies, including troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions and restoring to proper working order;
  • Drive and maintain a high level of efficiency and productivity;
  • Understand and promote the Company’s mission statement, values and strategic goals;
  • Perform equipment builds and repairs using a variety of hand and power tools, cranes/lifts, while following all safety procedures and regulations;
  • Ensure all reporting; record keeping, and communications are complete;
  • Promoting and adhering to our safety and respectful workplace culture and instilling this culture in the station while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance with all Government Labour, Health and Safety laws, regulations and policies.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and HAVE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR UNSAFE ACTS!;


Qualifications:


  • The ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair systems such as hydraulics, powertrains and electrical and electronic systems used in heavy duty equipment and truck and transport vehicles;
  • 3rd year registered apprentice or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and procedure manuals;
  • Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel;
  • Ability to follow drawings, schematics, procedures, to make and or assemble sub-assemblies, along with kits for electrical, and hydraulic systems without damage to pre-painted parts for a final product that passes Inland’s Quality and Operational standards;
  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints.
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Red Seal/Journey Person or Diploma in “Heavy Duty Equipment/ truck & Transport Repair” considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with heavy equipment diagnostics, repair, maintenance or assembly;
  • Read, write, speak and communicate effectively;
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Ability to work independently to achieve project goals before deadline;
