Mechanical Technician Jobs

Our client, a leading manufacturer of products for the construction and land development industry, is looking for a Mechanical Technician to join them on a permanent full-time basis at their office in Barrie.

Under the guidance of the Director of Manufacturing, this position performs a variety of functions in a manufacturing capacity. These duties include but are not limited to developing, revising, and editing CAD drawings for fabricated products, partnering with consulting firms on process and drawing design, troubleshooting and evaluating design inefficiencies and providing support to the division, researching parts and sourcing for procurement, assisting in machining department as required.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Assist in researching and coordinating the bill of materials (BOM) for applications.
• Partner with the Divisional Supervisor to develop, design and review product CAD design layouts.
• Act as the liaison between the division and manufacturing group on all product designs:
• Research and source parts for the designs and create requisitions for approval.
• Follow-up or provide assistance to Supervisor on questions from the production floor.
• Support and liaison with the Supervisor on the development of product by looking at the parameters and constraints on machinery (i.e., Dilo, resign treatment, cutting) and providing research results and recommendations.
• Develop and design all product CAD drawings for full back rollers.
• As required, provide support to the manufacturing group.
• Review and make edits as necessary based on customer specifications.
• Liaison with Manufacturing Manager and Supervisor on completing time studies and analysis for products and applications being reviewed for the division.
• Provide final drawing to Supervisor for sign off, before being released to production.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently as well as cohesively with employees and managers as part of a team.
• Willingness to perform mechanical maintenance and repairs.
• Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of pertinent data.
• Proficiency in mechanical design, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines.
• College diploma in Mechanical Technologist or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years’ experience working within a manufacturing or industrial application environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Detail orientated, time management and organizational skills.
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering designs, machining, and repairs.
