Mechanical Construction Design Manager

We make use of integrated multi-disciplinary 3D performance models to digitally visualize and plan all aspects of a construction project. We work closely with our Project Site Team and Pre-Fabrication Shop team to make our designs come to life using state of the art processes and machinery. Revit and Plumbing and Mechanical experience is a requirement of this role.

As this is a Leadership role, this position will have a team of 2-3 VDC technicians who will be working in Revit daily. Also reporting to this position is 2-3 Site Locator Technicians who will spend most of their time on site and a bit of time in the office preparing and loading their drawings onto Total Station machines.

Although this is a Leadership position, it will also require personal site projects as a VDC technician also. Previous Management experience is a requirement.

Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:

The VDC/SLT Manager will play a key role in the development of fabrication-quality models for Plumbing and Mechanical systems.

• Ensure department complies with all S&R policies
• Prepare work packages for on-site installation
• Schedule VDC Project meetings with PM's/Foremen and President for pre-planning of large projects
• Draft interference drawings for coordination with other trades
• Work continuously with Senior Management and Shop Team to innovate and streamline department practices
• Attend Various project meetings
• Support and back up for the Site Survey team - will require on site work for training and troubleshooting
• Design and layout of commercial plumbing/heating systems and mechanical rooms
• Prepare shop/spool pre-fabrication drawings
• Continuous development of our softwares associated to the VDC/SLT teams (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM Pro-FAB Pro, Navisworks, Hilti Total Station, Plangrid, Smartsheet etc)
• Interview with HR and Onboard New Hires
• Ad-hoc projects
• Support in the development of standard processes and procedures
• Liaise with President, Project Managers and Site Foremen
• Assign projects to team members
• Partner with Shop Foreman on Spooling projects
• Continuous self-development and ongoing training

Qualifications:

• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• 1-3 years’ experience in construction, pre-fabrication, engineering, or related field is an asset
• College or University level Engineering diploma
• Competent reading and understanding construction/technical drawings is required
• Knowledge of VDC/BIM is required (most work done in Revit)
• Experience with Revit is a strong asset
• Coding Skills are an asset
• Knowledge of Total Stations is an asset
• Knowledge and/or experience with Total Station is an asset
• Knowledge/experience of Fabrication CADmep, Dynamo, Python, BIM360, BlueBeam, and Navisworks are all assets
• Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
• Plumbing/HVAC knowledge is a an asset
• Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
