Full Time Position: Materials Testing Technician – Sechelt, BC
Kontur Geotechnical Consultants Inc. (Kontur) is a full-service Geotechnical Consulting Engineering and Material’s Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, and Soil) Firm, that provides engineering consultation, construction field reviews, and construction materials testing, for a wide array of projects and clients throughout British Columbia and Alberta. Kontur’s foundation is built on quality people doing great work in a rewarding environment.
Kontur is growing and is seeking a Materials Testing Technician to become part of Kontur’s team. This position will be based in Sechelt. This is an hourly permanent position, with the expectation of full-time hours.
The successful candidate will be a team-player, have a keen interest and proven ability to work in a fast- paced and continually evolving environment.
Job Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Aggregate, soils and concrete laboratory testing as needed;
- Construction field review and/or monitoring;
- Conducting Laboratory tests according to testing procedures;
- Other requested administrative or miscellaneous tasks requested by your supervisor.
- Using, cleaning and maintaining various types of equipment;
- Field Testing (compaction testing, asphalt coring, concrete testing etc.);
Job Requirements:
- Must have a valid BC driver’s License.
- CCIL Certification is an asset.
- Must be available to work outdoors and in all weather conditions, when safe to do so.
- Must have at least a Grade 12 High-school Diploma.
- Must be available for shift work (day/night).
- Lab experience is an asset.
- Previous TDG Training and experience using a Nuclear Gauge an asset.
- Must have an ability to lift and control weights up to 22 kgs/50 lbs.
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must have a reliable and safe vehicle in good working condition to be used for business purposes;
- Post-secondary certificates or training an asset.
- Must be available to travel and work away from the main office/laboratory periodically.
Hourly wages will be commensurate to experience. This position is also eligible to participate in Kontur’s
