Job Description
Adecco is currently hiring for a temporary to permanent, full-time Materials Specialist to work at our client, a global provider of technology-based products and services for the freight rail and transit industries, in Prince George, BC. In this role, you will be responsible for inventory management and inventory control metrics across a service segment in a 24/7 shop environment.
  • Shifts: Monday to Friday | 7am - 3:30pm PST
  • Experience in Oracle/SAP or other inventory control systems
  • Pay rate: $23-$26/hour (negotiable, based on experience)
  • Experienced in MS Office Suite: Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Compiling reports on various inventory metrics.

  • Ability and willingness to lift approximately 35 lbs. regularly.

  • Experience operating motorized industrial vehicles and equipment
  • Retrieving repair cycle assets from shop floor. Including timely and appropriate processing of assets in Oracle to ensure material is repaired and returned to stock quickly.
  • Location: Prince George, BC
  • Assembling customer orders from stock and placing orders on pallets or shelves or relocating orders to a holding area or shipping department.
  • Must possess sufficient skills to perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • Associate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of professional work experience
  • Must have the ability to work in a heavy shop environment.
  • Performing quality control processes on inbound and outbound shipments to meet company standards including checking shipment documents for discrepancies and resolving potential transportation delays or conflicts.
  • Daily answering requests from Circle of Service shops requesting additional material for locomotives, ensuring the correct parts are requested, work orders are open, the material is transacted correctly in Oracle, and appropriate shipping is arranged.
  • New and quicker onboarding process
  • High school diploma /GED with at least 4 years of experience in a similar role
  • Forecasting material needs for inbound and in-shop locomotives and pulling in any needed material in the timeliest and cost-efficient manner.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are a must.

  • Restocking warehouse and shop floor material.
  • Performing daily counts of large commodity assets including verification of serial number and size for both FGI and repair cycle assets.
  • Experience in the Railroad Industry
  • Arranging LTL and Expedite shipments using the Ryder portal as well as ensuring correct paperwork is attached to all shipments and correct BOLs are used for proper billing. Ensuring customs documents are requested and obtained prior to shipping when needed.
  • Processing sales of material.
  • Hires fast, pays weekly
  • Weekly managing stockouts, including obtaining updated ETAs for completely stocked out parts or parts low on stock.

  • Pulling material from the warehouse for shop use and ensuring material is issued to the correct locomotive with all necessary information: position, serial number, removal reason, and service sheet.
  • Parking: Free on site
  • Assisting/leading with the coordination of physical inventory counting. Requirements and Qualifications:
  • $50 voucher for boots in partnership with Mark's Work Warehouse Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must have own vehicle, as the site is not transit accessible.
  • Understanding of DOT/TDG Shipping Course Certification
  • Daily performing cycle counts to find and correct inconsistencies in inventory on hands.
  • Reading mechanical drawings to determine needed material.
  • Performing general housekeeping, maintenance, and organization of the warehouse.
  • Effectively using multiple software programs to order, receive, ship, and track material to and from the warehouse. Including Hazmat material with appropriate shipping documents.
  • 4% vacation pay paid out on each weekly pay cheque
