Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) offers a unique opportunity to work on the largest bi-national infrastructure project in North America today – the Gordie Howe International Bridge. WDBA is a Canadian Crown corporation created to deliver the Gordie Howe International Bridge project between Windsor, ON and Detroit, MI through a public-private partnership (P3). WDBA is responsible for overseeing and managing the construction and operation of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project which will be a legacy landmark that connects nations, economies and cultures. About this Opportunity

As a member of the Engineering team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Project Governance and Controls, the Manager, Project Controls is responsible for assisting with management in the areas of project cost, schedule, and risk management, as well as close coordination with commercial/claims management. This role manages and ensures an efficient set of processes and tools to support project controls for all activities associated with work being performed for or by WDBA. The Manager, Project Controls will work closely with the Manager, Records and Reporting and the Manager, Continuous Improvement to identify and implement improvements to project management processes. The Manager, Project Controls will provide support in ensuring that both WDBA and BNA meet their administrative and financial obligations outlined in the Project Agreement. The position will be an integral part of the WDBA Project Governance and Controls team working towards ensuring organizations within WDBA meet project controls principles in their work associated with the Project Agreement.


Position Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field
  • Experience with bi-national projects, considered an asset
  • Knowledge of project management principles, processes and tools used to manage projects
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline oriented and dynamic environment
  • Ability to build consensus and drive outcomes with diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge of project management techniques (I.e., Critical Path Method, Earned Value Technique)
  • Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Personnel Screening/Security Clearance
  • Hours of work may include evenings and weekends
  • Intermediate MS Office Suite
  • Ability to travel within Ontario and Michigan
  • Strong, demonstrated leadership skills, with an ability to effectively direct, motivate and mentor staff
  • Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with exceptional attention to detail
  • Well-developed organizational awareness with an understanding of how to engage team members to accomplish tasks
  • Experience in contract management and contractor negotiation experience specifically regarding construction claims and changes, considered an asset
  • Proven background developing managing and implementing project management and project controls plans on large scope projects with preference given to complex infrastructure, P3, and transportation
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) an asset
  • Experience managing and leading a successful project management team through teamwork, collaboration and mentoring
  • Sound professional judgement and initiative
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Project Management in heavy civil construction
