Job Description

Position Summary:
Lead all aspects of industrial safety and health systems for assigned facilities. Duties include but are not limited to: coordination of all training to meet regulations/requirements, maintaining all records, managing WHMIS program, conducting injury/incident investigations, tracking all injuries, reviewing and making recommendations for safety improvements, coordinating safety and ergonomic inspections, and coordinating new hire safety orientations.
Accountabilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all Provincial regulatory requirements
  • Conduct or coordinate safety training programs for all levels of operation
  • Lead and manage implementation of injury reduction efforts. Promote “Zero Injury Culture” initiatives
  • Maintain understanding and knowledge of current federal, provincial, and/or company regulations and policies
  • Assist organization by participating in special taskforce assignments and special projects
  • Lead safety efforts at all manufacturing and retail operations across Canada
  • Coordinate and conduct injury review process to determine correct root cause and corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Track and report operational safety performance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provide strategic leadership to a Team of EHS professionals to achieve cultural permanence and site-specific performance objectives and program implementation goals
  • Lead direct reports on multiple shifts
  • Provide leadership and drive plant safety committees
  • Must adhere to all company and Health & Safety policies as indicated in the Associate Handbook and Standards of Business Conduct Handbook
  • Assist in leading operations to best practice and best in class safety systems including sustaining and expanding Made Safe Certifications
  • Lead security efforts in protection of employees and property
  • Function as emergency coordinator and develop/drive emergency response/business continuity initiatives
Required Knowledge, Skills And Experience
  • Ability to balance priorities
  • Must have analytical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities
  • Minimum 3-5 years of safety experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment
  • Flexibility to support multiple shifts, as necessary
  • Ability to teach others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to implement safety policies and practices
  • Excellent people skills with professional demeanor
  • CRSP a plus
  • Knowledge of Environmental regulations a plus
  • Ability to champion the MBCI Four Basics, Six for Success, 80/20, lean principles and the Masterbrand Way
  • Balanced approach to technical, business and people aspects of business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient Collaborate; easily partners with, and gets things done with and through others
Education Requirements:
BS degree in Safety, Engineering, Human Resources, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
Organizational Relationship:
Reports to Director, EHS
