The Registry team is responsible for the performant search, distribution, discovery and management of Docker images and other OCI content on Docker Hub. We leverage open specifications and code to achieve this and work with partners across the Cloud Native ecosystem. The successful candidate works well with peers in Product, and Design to deliver reliable products that users love. They have experience working in teams that build SaaS products built with Go and running on AWS or another cloud provider. They care about supporting the career development of their direct reports as well as driving the success of the team. Finally, they are passionate about developer productivity and tooling that can help with it.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that good product and engineering practices are followed by the team
• Achieve company goals by working with internal and external stakeholders
• Interact with other teams within Docker, as well as with upstream open source communities and our users
• Facilitate communication and status reporting in and out of the team
• Line and functionally manage engineers distributed across Europe and the US East Coast
• Drive the team to deliver new features in a predictable manner while maintaining existing code

Qualifications:

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• 4+ years experience managing a team developing a SaaS product
• Experience in backend software development
• Comfortable with a high degree of autonomy (self-motivated, organized) and the ability to work remotely across time zones

What to expect in the first 30 days:

• Understand the team mission
• Participate in status reporting
• High-level understanding of the existing Registry functionality and code base
• Start line managing reports and building a rapport
• Understand the Docker personas and how they apply to the Registry
• Meet the team along with peers across the group and company

What to expect in the first 90 days:

• Have started career discussions with reports
• Deeper understanding of the Registry product
• Work with the team to set OKRs for a quarter
• Worked with the team to improve their processes

What to expect in the first year:

• Have had a sustained, positive impact on reports
• Been involved in driving the long term direction of the Registry
