With a population on the St George Campus of approximately 80,000 people engaged in a variety of diverse activities, the Campus Events (CE) unit provides a focal point to assess and ensure a variety of high-profile events can be successfully executed while ensuring that the activities related to the purpose of the University - namely academic instruction and research - can proceed without disruption. Like all other departments in Spaces & Experiences (S&E), Campus Events also generates net income which is reinvested in the University.
Your Opportunity
The University of Toronto is looking for a Manager, Campus Events to work alongside the Campus Events and Conference Services teams. As Manager, you'll play a key role in the execution of events and activities on campus by liaising with a wide range of stakeholders including staff, students, clients and guests.
The Manager, Campus Events supports sales and business development by recommending strategies to generate new business, funding and partnership opportunities. You will increase revenue generating activities, analyze sales performance, generate leads and produce marketing and communications materials.
You will determine protocols for the use of space, conduct risk analyses, obtain permits and licenses, respond to service queries and implement workflows for future events.
This unique opportunity is designed to engage the UofT community in the development and coordinating of unique events that showcase the University as a world class institution. Building on our reputation, you will promote the venues and event services to increase revenue generating potential and awareness of the vision of the University.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Overseeing the delivery of event management services to ensure client needs are being met
  • Liaising with contacts to obtain appropriate event permits and licenses
  • Keeping well-informed on economic and market trends and competitor environments
  • Implementing sales and marketing plans to increase revenue-generating activities
  • Researching, analyzing and recommending strategies to generate new business, funding and/or partnership opportunities
  • Planning and administering expenditures for operating budget
  • Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function
  • Implementing protocols on the use of campus space for film recording
Essential Qualifications
  • Must be highly organized and able to manage tight deadlines and conflicting priorities
  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Must be able to deal with a diverse range of stakeholders tactfully and efficiently
  • Minimum five years' experience administering the operation of event spaces and activities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Experience engaging in sales and business development activities
  • Experience supporting marketing/communication strategies including research, analysis, content development and promotion to clients
  • A strong team-player, should be able to be flexible while keeping on task and on schedule
  • Must possess financial acumen
