Key Job Requirements

• Implement energy conservative measures.
• Monitor and analyzed power factor improvement techniques.
• Collect and analyze electric load data to upgrade control panels and transformers for future requirements.
• Develop plans for engineering technicians including machine modifications & supervise.
• Audit electrical energy and other energy incentive equipment.
• Design transformer lay out for optimize utilization of utilities and space.
• Work collaboratively and negotiate with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy.
• Test electrical instruments including motors, transformers, and control panels.
• Set clear and measurable expectations, in line with plant goals, and proactively analyze and manage all relative performance metrics.
• Analyze and recommend old machines replacement with new on performance data basis.
• Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost.
• Prepare and recommend preventative maintenance and schedule activities.
• Communicate the impact of changes and potential effects on engineering design and development.
• Operate and maintain utility equipment per Alberta code of standards.
• Prepare budgets for capital expenditures, manpower, production, and space forecasting to meet customer demands.
• Knowledge of production concepts to provide professional project management.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure optimal performance.
• Drive alignment across the plant, driving engagement. Support cross-functional projects.
• Train and supervise for installation, repair and maintenance of plant machinery.
• Prepare capital budget forecasts, plans, scope and cost estimates for plant improvements.
• Effectively communicate goals and objectives with measurable metrics.
• Lead by example for the organization of how teamwork and partnerships should work.
• Provide engineering support to production leaders to produce quality products.
• Liaise and communicate with departments, customers, suppliers and other service providers.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement efforts through standardized work to cut cost and improve productivity and quality.

Qualifications And Experience Required

• Understanding of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), lean manufacturing.
• Understanding of manufacturing and procurement/supply chain.
• In depth understanding of the technical features of machinery, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry systems.
• Strong knowledge of Preventative Maintenance, CMMS, Mechanical/Electrical systems and quality control systems within a manufacturing environment.
• Computer skills includes MS Office Suite with strong Excel and project planning.
• Diploma / Degree in Facility Management or Mechanical Engineering.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory or individual contributor role in maintenance or engineering.
• Experienced managing contractors and technical repair services.
• 7+ years’ experience in a production facility in a maintenance role.
• Experience of managing Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities for maintenance.

Working Conditions

• Work primarily in a production facility. The plant environment can be dusty and noisy.
• Move around the plant, maneuver product, and gather information.
• Requires extended periods of sitting and using the telephone.
• Floors in work area may be slippery during wet weather conditions, have cracks and be uneven.
• Passing forklifts emit gas fumes.
• Doors are frequently open, causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
• Physically able to lift between 0 lbs to 50lbs.
• Tools, supplies and chemicals may contain hazardous materials and emit unpleasant odors.
