What you can expect in a typical day


As a Maintenance Engineer supporting Canada's largest oil refinery and our terminal network in Saint John, New Brunswick, you will work closely with our operations and technical teams to ensure process units within our plant are working safely, reliably, and to maximum productivity. This position requires both office and field work, to support maintenance, asset integrity, operations, and other teams to resolve issues including both repairs and new installations .

Your Roles And Responsibilities


  • Participate in the Refinery On-Call rotation
  • Provide technical expertise for both maintenance and capital projects.
  • Provide technical support for annual Turnarounds.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures
  • Participate in and support various types of investigation including RCA (root cause analysis).
  • Plan and prioritize to make timely decisions on projects; manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Ensure all assets are maintained according to all applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide technical direction and solutions to problems including detailed repair plans.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide input for risk assessment for design and execution.
  • Develop Engineering Work Orders and MOC's.

  • Able to work in the field: this includes working in year-round weather conditions, able to bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, etc. and able to lift up to 20lbs. You must be comfortable with high elevation climbing, working at heights, and in enclosed spaces. You must be able to wear full PPE as required by safety standards.

Education And Experience


  • 2-3 years industrial experience.
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience working on-site in refining operations is an asset.
  • P.Eng. certification is an asset, but not required.
  • Experience with ASME and/or API codes is an asset.
