Full-time: 37.5 Hours per week, Monday to Friday
Location: Hybrid (Home Office in Ottawa/Ottawa Larus Office at 170 Laurier Ave West, Suite 310, Ottawa, ON K1P 5V5)
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join the Larus team as a Machine Vision Software Developer. In this role, the successful candidate will work within a high-performing team focused on bringing our new offerings to market. In this role, you will work on a scalable machine vision and machine learning pipeline. You will be expected to learn a variety of new technologies and skills and apply them to non-trivial problems to generate solutions that will deliver value to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Other duties as assigned.
- Research machine vision and machine learning techniques and algorithms as directed;
- Record and document work;
- Product prototyping and development;
- Implement feature requests and bug fixes;
- Interact with data scientists and senior developers in regards to assigned work;
- Implement required tests;

- Required to meet qualifications to obtain a Canadian Government security clearance (typically requires the candidate to be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada).
- Organized and focused; and
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment;
- At least two years of experience in one or more object-oriented programming languages, such as C++, Python, or Java;
- Strong communication skills;
- A college diploma in Software Development, or an undergraduate degree in math, computer science or engineering. Advance degree (Masters/Ph.D.) in a related field would be considered an asset;
- Ability to perform light physical tasks;
- Passion for learning and solving complex problems;
The following skills and experience will help a candidate succeed in this role. Working knowledge of:
- Containerized Applications and Kubernetes
- Source control and pull requests
- Using command line tools under Linux or Windows
- Using a NoSQL database, such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB
- Building multi-threaded applications
- Using a SQL database
- A CI tool such as Jenkins or Azure Pipelines
- Build tools such as CMake or Gradle
- OpenCV
- Python
- C++
