In 2012, global eCommerce sales topped a trillion dollars for the first time ($1.1 trillion). If estimates are accurate by 2018 eCommerce will grow to $2.49 trillion. These figures alone are compelling, however coupled with the US Census Bureau’s estimate that only 7% of retail sales are currently done online leads us to believe that the eCommerce industry will be a dynamic, lucrative market for many years to come.

Pivotree is a privately-held, managed hosting company founded in 1998. Pivotree specializes in hosting comprehensive enterprise-class eCommerce, software-as-a-service, and other enterprise Web applications. The Company’s key differentiators include its expertise and focus around managed services supporting leading eCommerce software platforms such as Oracle Commerce, Intershop, Hybris, Magento, and Websphere. Based on Pivotree’s experience hosting multiple eCommerce customers and in collaboration with SI partners, Tenzing has developed a set of reference architectures to standardize configurations which now also leverages asset-free deployments including Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Pivotree is capitalizing on two major market trends that are starting to intersect which is the growth in enterprise eCommerce/merchant applications and the growth in public cloud platform consumption. In the past 18 months Tenzing has been winning extensively with US merchants and 2015 represented a pivotal year smashing previous “new contract sales” records in the company with the majority of them on strategy. Tenzing has progressively moved away from generalist managed service offerings and this role will be challenged to help shape a scalable infrastructure organization to sustain the accelerated growth.

Position Summary

Pivotree is looking for a Linux Admin in the Systems Operations team. The primary role of the Systems Operations team is to support Pivotree customers on the various platforms where Pivotree builds and deploys solutions for our customers. Specifically Pivotree is looking for a Senior Linux Admin to join this team. As a Linux Admin you are responsible for the troubleshooting and resolution of Linux (typically RedHat) based issues. These can be in production or non production environments on both Pivotree hosted solutions as well as cloud based solutions.

Responsibilities Include

• Communicating and collaborating with our multi-disciplinary team
• Maintain a feedback loop with the company’s platform teams for continuous improvement
• Able to occasionally work out of hours and also be part of an on-call rotation
• Debug, troubleshoot and fix technical issues
• Design, maintain, and deliver solutions to improve service delivery to our customers
• Coding/scripting services to help automate the development and deployment processes
• Re-engineering processes to optimize environments and delivery
• Assist in troubleshooting of customer issues in various environment settings
• A strong focus on automation

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

• Scripting abilities in at least one of the following: Bash, Python, Ruby, or Perl
• Familiarity with the Agile methodology
• Experience with Public Clouds and VMware
• Creative troubleshooting skills and out-of-the-box thinking
• Network Fundamentals and Protocol Understanding
• Strong Linux CLI, filesystem, and security fundamentals
• Ability to learn various technologies and topics
• Strong client facing, communications and collaboration skills

Advantages

• Experience with CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, bamboo)
• Configuration management knowledge (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet)
• Experience with system monitoring platforms (NewRelic, Zabbix)
• Experience with configuration of and tuning apache/nginx
• Be skilled in protocols such as LDAP, SFTP, NFS
• Experience with centralized logging platforms (Graylog2, ELK, Securonix)
• Familiarity with version control tools (Git, SVN)
