About the opportunity

Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Starting wage: $23.70 an hour

We are inviting an individual with a passion for microbiology and a desire to obtain some valuable experience working with quality laboratory equipment to join our Quality Assurance team as a Laboratory Technician.

The role is responsible for performing various microbiological analyses, reporting results, and supporting the Operational Quality Control team with other related duties.

Main Responsibilities include:

·Collect, analyze, and report results for environmental monitoring program

·Collect, analyze, and report results for finished product, work in process and raw materials

·Laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting

·Laboratory inventory counting, reporting, and forecasting

·Inspect and report quality of raw materials (baby lettuce, vegetables, ingredients)

·Complete shelf-life assessments and reporting results

·Special projects (e.g., Research and development, investigations, validations)

·Ensure employee compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP)

·Perform other related duties

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements

·Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field, or in process of obtaining one; professional certificates related to laboratory work or a combination of education and experience in a related role

·Microbiology and laboratory knowledge

·Experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control is an asset

·Familiarity with the field of food, production and HACCP standards are assets

·Competent with Microsoft Office Suite, Share point and Teams

·Available on Saturdays, and outside business hours

·Critical thinking and decision making

·Attention to detail

·Comfortable working alone

·Familiar with data integrity and confidential information

Environmental Factors

This position requires extensive time standing; occasional time sitting at a desk working on a computer, walking bending, reaching; working conditions include working in an office within a production facility that includes cold and damp processing and packaging environment, as well as a fresh produce farm with outdoor fields.
