Laboratory Technician (Contract) Jobs

We are currently recruiting for a detail orientated team player to fill the position of Vintage Quality Control Lab Technician based out of our Jackson-Triggs Okanagan winery and production facility. This is a seven (7) month contract, full-time position from May – December.

Our Arterra Wines Canada Winery and Production Facility is a full-service operation from harvest through to final distribution; operating year round and producing some of the industry’s most awarded wines. The Quality Control Lab is a fast-paced team environment where staff are involved in quality checks throughout the process from vineyard samples, to finished goods in storage. Our lab mission is to ensure quality from grape to glass.

The Role

The production Vintage Quality Control Lab Technician performs inspections and analysis at various stages throughout the production process to ensure necessary quality requirements are met in our products. Additionally, this role is also responsible for daily monitoring and testing of our effluent system, a crucial facility system necessary in the production process.

Your Key Responsibilities And Duties Are As Follows

• Inspection and testing of production processes to ensure compliance to requirements
• Analysis of samples
• Internal Auditing to monitor compliance to ISO9001: FSMS, and QMS
• Reporting and documenting of activities and results
• Reporting analysis in a timely manner to Laboratory Manager, Winemaker, and Production Manager as required
• Monitoring and measurement of the effluent stream and coordinating with Maintenance on system adjustments
• Identify opportunities for improvement to quality in production packaging
• Calibration and maintenance of instrumentation
• Monitoring and measurement of production processes for compliance to specifications
• Other duties as assigned
• Complete paperwork of measurement and monitoring activities
• Inspection and testing of ingredients
• Maintaining the lab in a clean organized manner
• Inspection and testing of components
• Record keeping demonstrating compliance to QC standards
• Preparation and standardization of analytical reagents
• Investigation, troubleshooting and problem solving where necessary

Job Requirements

• Ability to understand and perform mathematic calculations
• Physically capable to lift up to 20kg periodically
• Strong commitment to quality with attention to detail
• Ability to work shifts/weekends
• Teamwork and customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Results orientated with an ability to prioritize
• Ability to understand and perform mathematical calculations
• Working knowledge with various computer software programs (Microsoft Office)
• Physically capable to spend most of the day walking/standing
• Post-Secondary Education in a technical/scientific field. (Chemistry, Microbiology or Food Science would be preferred)
• Candidate must be hands on, dependable, and self-starting
• Good problem-solving abilities along with basic logistic skills required
