Telecon is looking for an energetic and career minded professional to take on the role of Labour Relations Manager.
In this exciting position you will work closely with members of the organization and the leadership team on all matters related to Labour Relations. As an expert in Labour Relations management, you will be responsible for the application, interpretation and negotiation of collective agreements. You will also play an influential role with respect to litigations, in addition to supporting the organization in strategic decisions related to Labor and employment Relations.
This is a hybrid position with an opportunity to work remotely as well as in our Vaughan office.
YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
- Oversee collective bargaining procedures, including drafting, reviewing and modifying proposals, verifying legal contract terminology and suggesting additional rules and regulations as necessary
- Provide advisory support to HR business partners on any questions relating to the interpretation of collective agreements or in the management of complex cases requiring labour relations expertise
- Provide advice and guidance to Management as needed during labour relations contract negotiations, including drafting proposals and facilitating meetings with union representatives
- Any and all other duties as assigned in order to meet Company objectives
- Assist management during crisis situations, such as labor strikes, to facilitate effective negotiations and resolve issues quickly
- Support the HR Business partners on the management of labour grievances as needed by investigating circumstances of incident, validity of claims, adherence to contract policies and completion of resolution procedures
- Develop and present informational briefings for management to improve understanding of labour relations and collective agreements
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
- Successful track record of relationship building and ability to address issues with a win-win approach
- 3 to 5 years of experience as an expert Labour Relations advisor as well as experience as a spokesperson in the context of the renewal of collective agreements
- Have a demonstrated problem solving and solution oriented approach
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and different trends that govern labour relations in Ontario.
- University degree in Industrial Relations, Law (labour and employment law profile), Human Resources or equivalent work experience
- Previous experience having represented the interests of the employer before administrative tribunals and within the framework of working committees (joint committees, grievance committees,)
