Job Description
City Experiences is seeking a Junior Sous Chef for our City Cruises operation in Toronto.

The successful Junior Sous Chef is technically competent in food preparation and production, contributes to general galley


operations including receiving and storing provisions, is hospitable and cordial to coworkers and guests, and acts safely and


responsibly.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Receive and store food and supplies using proper food-handling techniques including stock rotation and monitoring temperatures of perishable products.
  • Works with a safety mindset by ensuring that employees follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in routine cleaning of galley including daily cleaning of equipment and implements, sanitizing food preparation surfaces, and mopping floors.
  • Additional job duties as assigned.
  • Maintain uniform and personal grooming in compliance with appearance standards'.
  • Understands all policies and procedures relating to the employee’s role within the company.
  • Maintain food quality and appearance as per the Company’s food service standards including fresh baking, salads, soups, main buffets, and staff meals.
  • Inspect food preparation and service areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
  • Be prepared to begin work at scheduled time.
  • Prepare high-quality food following prescribed recipes and production specifications.
  • Receive and organize hot line food orders; portion, arrange, and garnish food for service.
  • Monitor and maintain buffet food and supplies throughout service.
  • Reports to work on time and for all scheduled shifts.
  • To all health and safety regulations.


Requirements & Qualifications


  • Must be able to work all shifts including days, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, wipe, push, pull, move or lift up to 35lbs (16 kilograms).
  • Energetic and enthusiastic personality essential.
  • If required, wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e. non-slip shoes, gloves, weather appropriate dress attire, sun protection).
  • Will work for extended periods without sitting.
  • Working towards Hospitality or Culinary degree considered an asset.
  • Will be closely supervised; must be able to take direction.
  • At least one (1) year previous kitchen experience required
  • Must possess a service orientation – actively looking for ways to help others.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate required.
  • Must be able to effectively understand and convey written and verbal information to coworkers and guests.
  • The nature of the work may be strenuous, and the work environment may be warm.
  • Walk, stand, sit and work in all types of weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Required to lift and move heavy items such as cases of provisions and large containers of prepared foods.
  • Continually and repeatedly perform functions indoors and outdoors.
  • O.S.S.D. or equivalent as recognized by the Ministry of Education.
