Our Canadian HQ is based out of Vancouver, BC, however we are accepting applications from any location within Canada.


About You:


You are motivated, and passionate about electrical engineering and progressing the marine industry toward greener technologies. You are self-driven, detail-oriented with an analytical mindset, with the ability to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.


As a subject matter expert regarding some electrical engineering activities, you have a strong desire to share your knowledge and experience on the job through mentorship of our junior and intermediate engineers.


The Role:


In your role as senior Junior Electrical Engineer will have an opportunity to apply comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering concepts related to the design, assembly, calibration, and testing of switched power conversion systems (Marine Power and Propulsion Plant Architecture (SLDs &ELAs), hybrid power system design, and Dynamic Positioning System design).


This position will be part of a matrix reporting structure and part of the engineering team and project team.


  • Participating in conferences, events, and networking and learning opportunities.
  • Establishing relationships with clients, vendors, suppliers, other professionals, and expanding networks.
  • Clearly communicates technical and design documentation to other departments
  • Provides technical support to marketing for bids and proposals.
  • Produce high quality design work, drawings and technical documentation
  • Support to project scheduling and progress reporting
  • Assists with the development of new Engineering standards and maintains and improves existing standards and guidelines.
  • Write CONOPS and Functional Specification documents around Power Management System and Propulsion Control System.
  • Ensures designs are optimized for adherence of electrical standards.
  • Maintaining and improving existing engineering processes.
  • Experience with Electrical Outfitting and Arrangements, battery sizing and fuel cells, and Dynamic Simulations / Transient Analysis.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert regarding some electrical engineering activities.
  • Use of latest technologies and computer software
  • Design Electric or Hybrid, power and propulsion systems for Marine Vessels.
  • Liaises with clients, and internal teams to ensure project quality and specifications deliverables are met.
  • Undertake Power Systems Analysis study viz Harmonic Analysis, EMI, short circuit, voltage drop towards effective electrical system design.
  • Analyzing existing processes and scheduling meetings to discuss improvement initiatives.


Requirements:


Education and Qualifications:


  • P.Eng. EGBC status or the ability to apply for P.Eng. within a year, preferred.
  • Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering


Experience:


  • Experience working with engineering technologies ie; EasyPower/ETAP, AutoCAD, Navisworks etc.)
  • Extensive practical experience related to power distribution, control circuits, layout, or integration and
  • Experience in Electrical Design, Control systems, and Vessel instrumenting for “Smart Vessel”
  • Good attention to detail and able to produce error-free drawings.
  • Previous maritime, shipyard or shipboard knowledge or experience is desired.
  • Excellent knowledge of specifying, selecting, and ordering electrical components.
  • 10+ years of experience on electrical system for marine vessels.
  • Confident in use of Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint and similar tools
  • Practical knowledge of electrical specifications, Propulsion Plant system integration and AC/DC grid.
  • Strong knowledge of class regulation, LR, ABS, DNV-GL, Transport Canada.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical standards.
