Job Title: Jr. Product Owner
Location: Toronto, ON (Remote)
Contract: Long Term
Experience Level: 5-7 Years
Summary: We are seeking a Junior Product Owner to join our client team for a long-term contract. As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of our cloud-based products within the insurance domain. Your deep knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, coupled with expertise in cloud technologies, will enable you to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive the successful execution of product initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Sprint Reviews and Demos: Conduct sprint reviews and product demos to stakeholders, incorporating feedback and iterating on the product to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with customer expectations.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously analyze product performance, collect user feedback, and leverage data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and optimize product features and functionalities.
- Product Launch and Adoption: Drive successful product launches, including coordinating marketing and sales enablement activities, monitoring product adoption metrics, and gathering user feedback for future iterations.
- Product Ownership: Take ownership of the product vision, strategy, and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs within the insurance domain.
- Agile Project Management: Employ Agile and Scrum methodologies to lead the product development process, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and coordinating with development teams to ensure timely and high-quality product releases.
- Backlog Management: Manage and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that it is up to date, refined, and reflects the most valuable and relevant features for development teams.
- User Story Creation: Translate product requirements into clear and actionable user stories, ensuring that they are well-defined, properly prioritized, and aligned with the product roadmap.
- Requirements Gathering and Prioritization: Collaborate with stakeholders, including customers, business teams, and subject matter experts, to gather and prioritize product requirements based on market research, customer feedback, and business objectives.
- Stakeholder Management: Regularly communicate with stakeholders, including executives, team members, and customers, to provide updates on the product roadmap, progress, and key milestones.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, design, and other cross-functional teams to ensure a shared understanding of product requirements and effective collaboration throughout the development process.
Qualifications:
- Technical Background: Solid understanding of software development principles, architecture, and technologies to effectively communicate with technical teams and stakeholders.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a Product Owner or similar role, preferably in the technology industry with a focus on cloud technologies and the insurance domain.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. A degree in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Cloud Technologies: Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts, infrastructure, and services, along with experience in developing and managing cloud-based products.
- Agile and Scrum: Proven experience in Agile methodologies and Scrum framework, including backlog management, sprint planning, and facilitating daily stand-ups and retrospectives.
- Customer Focus: Deep understanding of customer needs and ability to translate them into user stories and actionable product requirements. Passion for delivering exceptional user experiences.
- Analytical and Problem-solving Skills: Strong analytical skills to gather and interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. Ability to solve complex problems and think critically.
- Insurance Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with the insurance industry, including knowledge of insurance products, business processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Product Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to define product vision, create and manage product roadmaps, and prioritize features based on customer needs and business objectives.
