WCG is growing! We are very excited to launch a new program called WorkConnect. Our team will provide Career and Information Services that will help boost career outcomes for Persons with Disabilities, across Calgary and surrounding area, via a virtual service delivery model. To ensure success of this new program and to better support the Calgary community, we will be hiring a variety of new positions.
The new Job Developer will ensure successful career outcomes for our clients and WorkConnect team, that will work directly with Persons with Disabilities to provide them career services and support them along their career continuum.

Who we’re looking for
Job Developer
Like WCG, you believe in the power of work to transform lives. As a Job Developer you are responsible for consulting with employers and Career Advisors to provide employment opportunities for clients. You find cultivating new employer relationships exciting! Building your own network of trusted connections is meaningful to you. Setbacks don’t deter you; they just fuel your determination. You will collaborate directly with employers and provide them with information, specifically, the advantages of hiring clients from WorkConnect. After you successfully match clients with employers, you will remain available for retention and support for both the employers and the clients. You will be working with a wide variety of local employers on behalf of clients to place them in employment opportunities. Being a Job Developer involves developing positive relationships with clients to encourage, motivate and support them to achieve and retain meaningful employment.
What you’ll do
- Conduct initial employer on-site visits to ensure the best working conditions for future employees
- Coach, guide, and support clients as they prepare for informational interviews and networking events
- Work one on one with clients to keep them on track in their job search
- Liaise with the WorkConnect team to determine client fit for specific open positions
- Provide employers with employee attraction and retention tools
- Stay attuned to local community employment events and market employment services
- Attend local job fairs and other employer related networking opportunities
- Conduct needs analysis assessments with employers
- Prospect for and generate new employer leads for clients
- Update employer database with information and client hires
- Perform one on one interview practice and resume reviews with clients
- Facilitate interviews and meetings between clients and potential employers
- Respond to and support situations that are considered an employment crisis
- Actively solicit opportunities for a variety of clients for part-time or full-time employment, including informational interviews and job interviews
- Provide job coaching/retention support as required
What you bring
- Experience marketing clients of all skill, experience, and education levels, and explaining the benefits of each to employers in a variety of employment sectors
- Ability to drive to employer sites in Calgary and surrounding communities, access to a vehicle and a clean driver’s abstract
- Successful track record helping clients overcome challenges to employment
- Solid understanding of confidentiality and other professional codes of conduct
- Experience in assessing the needs of an employer and a client and making an effective match
- Two (2) or more years’ experience in job development or employment counselling experience or a related field
- Career Development Practitioner (CCDP) certification is an asset
- Employment conditional on obtaining a criminal record check
- Post-secondary certificate, degree, or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., career or employment development, vocational rehabilitation, sales, education) or related experience
- Knowledge of the local labour market, government programs, job search techniques, career development and issues relating to unemployment
- Experience working with Persons with Disabilities and/or high barrier clients.
- Strong digital literacy including social media and Microsoft Office Suite
