(Mistik) is a growing consulting company with a diverse client group located in Slave Lake, Alberta.Mistik provides a wide range of environmental and forestry related consulting services and solutions to a wide variety of industries within Alberta and the Northwest Territories.With a multi-disciplinary team that has broad industry knowledge and experience, Mistik provides quality, cost-effective services to its clients.We are currently recruiting the services of an Intermediate Environmental Practitioner.

We are looking for a field-oriented employee to join our team to assist in all duties pertaining to projects that Mistik staff are currently working on. Travel may be required for the completion of various projects.

This position will be responsible for the provision of high quality environmental and resource consulting services to Mistik clients in all sectors.Candidate will be responsible for assisting in delivering services to existing clients.Services include environmental planning and support, vegetation assessments, FireSmart planning, water monitoring, environmental assessments, surveys.This position will include both office and field roles.In addition, responsibilities will include:

• Plan and carry out field work individually and in a team.
• Prepare project reports, plans, and letters.
• Liaison with clients and stakeholders within project areas.

Additional areas of opportunities for the potential candidate will provide opportunities in environmental impact assessments, reclamation and remediation, baseline studies, environmental auditing, environmental monitoring/reporting and compliance verification, development of environmental management systems, and corporate social responsibility & sustainability services.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would have:

• Experience in various aspects of environmental site assessments would be considered beneficial.
• Experience using Trimble and or Garmin GPS units and ArcGIS software.
• Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience including understanding of operational construction and crossing management, field work, data collection, site assessments.
• Candidates with any level of post-secondary environmental or forestry education will be considered for these positions.
• Strong computer skills with ability to track and report progress through various software tools. MSOffice knowledge is the basis for the position.
• A solid understanding of reclamation and remediation would be an asset.
• University degree or technical diploma in Forestry, Environmental Sciences, of any other Natural Resource program.
• Strong interpersonal skills including communication – both written and oral.
• Professional registration or eligible to be registered would be considered an asset.
• Ideally possess the following safety tickets: WHMIS, First Aid, ATV, snowmobile.
• A valid driver’s license is required and must supply a driver abstract if chosen as the successful candidate.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered.
