Intermediate Environmental Engineer Jobs

Strong management and coordination skills.

Develop, review, and implement GHG management program including GHG data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Develop, review, and deploy facilities' environmental management system in alignment with ISO 14001.

Provide all cost engineering expertise and coordinate activities as a group/unit.

Knowledge and experience in obtaining environmental permits and approvals requirements, natural heritage policies and protocols and environmental legislation.

5 years of relevant experience;

Experience in the application of environmental assessment processes; and

A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Planning or related discipline;

Engage with clients to develop and execute work plans;

Coordinate work with other environmental specialists (i.e. noise, air, archaeology, built heritage, fisheries, terrestrial ecologists, etc.).

Collaborating with technical and project management teams to develop execution strategies.

Interpreting analytical laboratory results, budget tracking and contractor management.

Minimum 5 year’s field experience with environmental site assessments, soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, site remediation and reclamation.

Knowledge of environmental regulations and guidelines.

Possess strong interpersonal skills, communication skills and technical writing skills.

Overseeing ground disturbance, drilling, collecting soil samples, completing remediation and site reclamation, and groundwater monitoring.

Experience conducting environmental liability assessments in accordance with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) Liability Management Program is an asset.

Project planning, coordination, and management

Five to ten years of consulting or industry experience in environmental site assessment and reclamation

Strong analytical and technical writing skills

Excellent multitasking and problem-solving skills

Supervision of field and office staff as required.

• Highly developed project management skills and able to handle multiple priorities and

or an experienced and motivated individual.

• Working knowledge of municipal environmental trends and issues, engineering models,

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills; excellent oral and written

communication skills, in particular solid report writing, presentation and negotiation skills.

• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in the City's Core Competencies.

Extensive knowledge of construction site erosion and sediment control measures and best management practices

Detail oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills

Depending on qualifications, the successful candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level and/or ladder.

Monitoring compliance with applicable environmental requirements and commitments, including Environmental Protection Plans and work plan

Recommending best practices and mitigation measures to manage environmental concerns during construction

Minimum of five years of experience as an environmental monitor or inspector in a construction environment

Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience including understanding of operational construction and crossing management, field work, data collection, site assessments.

Strong interpersonal skills including communication – both written and oral.

Experience using Trimble and or Garmin GPS units and ArcGIS software.

Experience in various aspects of environmental site assessments would be considered beneficial.

Candidates with any level of post-secondary environmental or forestry education will be considered for these positions.

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered.

Proficiency in MS Word and Excel are essential. Experience with other data management software an asset.

You’ll ensure that you maintain an up-to-date knowledge of existing and emerging environmental regulatory requirements and best practices;

Understanding of budget management, report preparation, and client relationship management.

Five or more years of related experience;

Ability to manage the demands of multiple concurrent projects and challenging deadlines;

Ability to plan and deliver high quality reports, have strong technical writing skills and can present information concisely and clearly.

Strong organizational, planning skills and time management skills.

Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

Promote a proactive risk-based approach to environmental management.

Experience and knowledge of pulp and paper mill processes, wastewater treatment is a definite asset.

Advanced experience, knowledge and understanding of safe work practices.

Excellent computer skills - working knowledge of SAP, PI, PARCView and Excel would be an asset.
