Job Description

IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY

Interim Head of Manufacturing Operations

Reports To: CEO

Duration: 3-6 months

Location: Mississauga, ON


Our client, a small, family-owned, growing food manufacturing company, is seeking an Interim Head of Manufacturing Operations to conduct an operational assessment and recommend best practices to elevate the function while implementing a culture of accountability, transparency, and professionalism. This production expert will provide mentorship, coaching, and change management support to the production management team to drive growth and expand capacity to meet consumer and customer demand while ensuring that the facility becomes a model of operational excellence.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Stabilize and optimize all operations including production, quality control, maintenance, and supply chain;
  • Develop innovative, cost-effective systems and processes that enable growth and efficiency while measuring results;
  • Conduct assessment of production, plant operations, people, processes, and systems and recommend improvements to be implemented;
  • Lead, coach, and mentor managers and supervisors—ultimately ensuring quality, accuracy, and efficient production of the full line of products;
  • Monitor compliance to Health and Safety procedures and take appropriate action to deal with non-conformances, providing input for continuous improvement actions;
  • Ensure the highest possible service levels with controlled operating costs and delivery performance;
  • Collaborate with the CEO to implement best practices to ensure operational excellence;
  • Coach and mentor the manufacturing team to become a more efficient producer, encourage continuous improvement, and serve as a business partner across the organization;


Competencies and Requirements:

  • Excitement at the prospect of making a difference within a smaller facility—you take pride in implementing best practices to ensure the quality and consistency of the products you make;
  • Diploma or degree in Engineering preferred;
  • General knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations;
  • Minimum 5 years experience managing an entire manufacturing plant within the food or beverage sector; Strong preference for a blend of small and large company experience;
  • Advanced project management, analytical and organizational skills;
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; Influential and inspirational leader; Excellent change management skills;
