We have a dynamic team of staff who are highly motivated with strong team spirit to provide exceptional support to our lawyers and clients. We are currently recruiting for a full time Human Resources Coordinator in our Edmonton office.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, our Human Resources Coordinator is responsible to provide daily human resources administration support including monthly payroll processing and benefits/pension administration to all staff and lawyers of the firm.
Our ideal candidate will have junior HR Coordinator experience, full cycle payroll administration and knowledge administering benefits and pension programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Human Resources Manager in updating and/or drafting of policies
- Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires which involves new hire start up, file creation and forms processing, onboarding checklist and Week 1 schedule and training
- Produce employment verification letters as well as ad hoc Excel documents and reports. Maintain employee files and correspondence
- Oversee the administration of benefits and pension plans, including member enrolment, terminations, and updates. Respond to employee e-mails and inquiries
- Provide administrative support to other departments as necessary
- Assist the Human Resources Manager (for the Staff) and the Committee on Associate Review (for the Associates) in facilitating regular performance evaluation process which includes preparation, collection of feedback and distribution of evaluation packages
- Provide administrative support to the firm recruitment processes such as posting jobs and scheduling interviews
- Maintain various monthly and quarterly spreadsheets and reports related to overtime, absence reporting and quarterly pension reporting as instructed by the Manager of Human Resources
- Administer full cycle payroll processing, reconciliation, and year end tasks for two payroll groups
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, office standardization, file management projects based on HR deadlines and priorities
- Participate in HRIS administration, submitting tickets, troubleshooting, time off approval and responding to inquiries
- Provide assistance in the planning and execution of Social Committee events such as summer games and holiday parties
- Plan and facilitate events that promote engagement for Edmonton location staff alongside with other members of the Employee Engagement Committee

- Strong ability to exercise good judgement, make sound decisions, show initiative and be proactive
- Must possess strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Must be results oriented and demonstrate exceptional time management and organizational skills
- Deadline and task oriented individual who acts with a sense of urgency
Key Qualifications and Education:
- Law industry experience and previous experience with HRIS systems (specifically Dayforce) would be an asset
- Possess extensive experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Up to date knowledge on applicable payroll legislation and laws, employment standards legislation and compliance, HR practices and policies, pension, and benefit programs
- Post-secondary diploma or certification in human resources management and/or 1-2 years successful track record fulfilling human resources/payroll & benefit roles will be considered
