Job Description
The Human Resources Coordinator is a key member of the Murphy Hospitality Group People team. The HR Coordinator supports a variety of HR activities in support of the MHG HR Strategy including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, and training & development.


The HR Coordinator is part of a team that has the opportunity to plan and participate in numerous exciting events and activities, working both in the Head Office and onsite at various MHG locations. The ideal candidate will be open to occasional business travel, specifically supporting three (3) Halifax MHG locations. If you enjoy supporting the business, building relationships, providing administrative excellence, and take pride in keeping things organized – then this could be the perfect position for you!


As the HR Coordinator, You will


  • Learn to utilize the company’s Applicant Tracking system
  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment with a focus on the candidate experience
  • Plan, organize and participate in employee events
  • Act as main point of contact for immigration / government programs
  • Create offer letters and contracts
  • Develop policies and programs aligned to the MHG business strategy
  • Maintain and make recommendation regarding MHGs’ compensation structure
  • Track and manage vacation, paid time off, employee leaves, etc.
  • Conduct pre-screens, interviews, reference checks
  • Work with operational leaders to identify workforce requirements
  • Analyze and develop various s and Job Postings
  • Develop strategies and participate in events to represent the brand and attract talent (e.g. Campus & Community career events)
  • Manage and provide advice to managers regarding various HR functions and employee relations

What You Bring


  • Post-secondary education in Business with focus in Human Resources
  • Working experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • 2+ years experience in a HR role
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, ability to think and learn on the fly
