What you will be doing

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary duties and responsibilities will be defined as needed by the functional area where the incumbent is located.

• Support the National Safety program as needed
• Supporting HR and Occupational Health Services with planning, implementation and evaluation of health and safety education and promotion of positive health and wellness
• Other HR duties as assigned
• Act as a consultant as needed with regards to SDS information
• Design, develop and deliver health promotion/wellness initiatives in collaboration with the benefits team
• Support HR with rolling out communication regarding any legal and professional changes associated with public health, occupational health, and workers’ compensation regulations
• Collaborate with and act as a resource departments in developing and maintaining a safe work environment
• Identify health needs for workers, develop objectives, and implement programs in health promotion, maintenance and rehabilitation
• Liaise with health and safety representatives, ensure they have up to date information and are following reporting processes
• Bilingual an asset
• Participate in accident and illness investigations
• Coordinates N95 respirator fit testing program with managers
• Maintain incident data conforming with company and regulatory requirements to ensure associate confidentiality and privacy
• Support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements

What your background should look like

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program with a post-secondary institution, Human Resources Management preferred

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Customer service experience an asset
• Must be eager to learn, self-motivated, flexible, accountable and can effectively handle multiple tasks at one time
• Good analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
• Knowledge of computers to operative effectively with PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook
• Good project management skills
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills

The successful candidate may have daily contacts with unilingual English-speaking customers, or peers from cross-functional teams.
