Job Summary
We are seeking skilled press officers and media relations professionals to join This Companys International Media Relations (IMR) Unit. The role includes developing and issuing press releases, handing inquiries, conducting interviews, and handling media engagements. The International Media Relations (IMR) Unit functions as the Company's primary point of contact for journalists and media outlets around the world. The unit performs a range of media-related tasks involving global print, online and broadcast channels. Operating on the front lines of media relations, the unit is entrusted with safeguarding and building the reputation of one of the world's leading energy and chemicals companies.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate media visits, interviews, and background briefings.
- Respond effectively to media inquiries in a timely manner.
- Provide functional support and advice to senior leaders on strategic media issues.
- Build, maintain, and actively manage relationships with journalists and media outlets, including Tier 1 international titles, trade, and special-interest publications (covering print, online, and broadcast channels).
- Develop corporate announcements and press releases.
- Foster positive internal relationships across the company to support the International Media Relations Unit's key objectives.
- Provide on-site media relations support to executives at international events, conferences, and during company activities.
- Prepare media plans, communications briefings, and Q&A documents for executives.
- Support the Company's quarterly results announcements, including media calls and interviews.
- Contribute to crisis communication and response management.
- Develop materials that effectively communicate This Company's strategic objectives to global media.
- Support story generation activities, including proactive article and thought leadership development.
- Identify potential opportunities to engage with media on high-value projects.
Requirements:
- This role required candidate to permanently relocate at Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.
- Previous experience as a spokesperson is preferred, while a proven track record in crisis communications is also an advantage.
- A successful candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized and approved program in the fields of journalism, communications, or a related field with equivalent experience. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years' experience in journalism, media relations, or corporate communications, gained in either an agency or in-house corporate setting – ideally with previous experience in the energy, oil, and gas sectors.
- Flexibility and good organizational skills are necessary. Candidates should also be detail-oriented, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
- The candidate should be able to develop and maintain networks, perform well under pressure, and handle a variety of requests.
- Strong interpersonal skills are therefore key. Candidates should also be trustworthy, displaying responsibility and care when handling confidential or sensitive topics.
- Strong networking skills are essential, and the role requires a strong understanding and experience of working in the media or public relations field.
