Looking for: General Manager in Construction industry
Our client is a well-established contractor focusing on complex renewal, restoration and repair projects of Building Envelopes, Parking Decks, Podium Slabs, and Sealants in British Columbia. Due to the company’s growth and expansion, they are adding a General Manager to their team in Port Coquitlam, BC. A flexible schedule and a hybrid model will be offered.
The new General Manager will be responsible for leading the team to secure and deliver a high standard of products and services for our client’s customers.
As the face of the organization, the GM will oversee all aspects of Finance, Operations and Construction while partnering with vendors, suppliers, and team members to exceed customers’ expectations.
Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement and meet Company’s goals and strategies to align all departments and deliver results
• Work collaboratively to secure projects, establish budgets and perform to budget
• Provide safety leadership through example and implementation of Safety Program and monitoring of safety performance of team members and subcontractors
• Provide feedback, training and coaching; ensure timely completion of performance evaluations and 1 on 1 meeting for all team members
• Administration and management of prime contract and subcontracts; includes negotiation and awarding of subcontracts for scopes of work as well as review and evaluation of subcontractor performance
• Manage project budget and billings and work with accounting to ensure timely payment of A/R and A/P
• Monthly and quarterly reporting on financial and overall performance of project to Senior Management
• Foster and maintain positive relations and communication with clients, consultants, architects and subcontractors
• Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies while driving profitability across all channels through analysis of sales trends
• Foster a motivated team, learn new skills and run special projects/initiatives
Qualifications:
• Completed education in a construction-related discipline as well as demonstrated, progressive experience in building envelope, glazing & fenestration; direct project management of large multi-family, institutional and commercial projects
• Outstanding leadership, project management and problem-solving skills
• Service and result-oriented individual with demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration
• Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Project; experience with Viewpoint Project Management system an asset
• Strong negotiation and problem-solving Skills
