Food Processing Labourer Jobs

Join our growing team and learn to make our delicious vegan and gluten free pierogi! We are looking for someone reliable, eager, and dedicated to help in our expanding pierogi production. We are a woman-owned, growing, BC food processing business that makes allergy friendly, delicious foods like our well-loved pierogi!

As a Food Processing Labourer, you will be working Part Time from 8-35 hours per week, with regular Tuesday evening availability required. While this job mainly assists in the production and packaging of pierogi and other retail products, you may also assist in cooking and selling products at markets and other tasks as required.

Some of the work you will be doing:

Food Production (70%)

• Preparing, producing, and packaging pierogi manually and with specialized equipment.
• Maintaining a clean kitchen, cleaning all dishes, equipment and work areas, and following sanitation plans.
• Assisting with inventory management, including counting, writing, and computer data entry.

Market Cooking & Support (30%):

• Assist with and sometimes manage, an outdoor food market booth to sell prepared meals and retail products, multitasking between managing a register, taking orders, and cooking food, while maintaining all Health Authority requirements.

Experience you bring:

• Valid Food Safe Level 1 certificate required.
• Reliable transportation between job sites
• 1 year of kitchen/cooking experience is an asset

Qualities needed to be successful:

• Show initiative and improve efficiency of work over time.
• Comfortable speaking with customers to sell and promote products.
• Willing to take direction and learn from others.
• Able to do repetitive tasks with speed, accuracy, and efficiency.

Work conditions:

• Some evening and weekend shifts will be required.
• Hours will vary depending on production needs and market dates, but will mainly be 8-hour shifts, 1-3 days per week.
• Long periods of standing.
• Some heavy lifting up to 25kg.

Compensation

• Wage range of $17.00-$19.00 per hour based on experience and skill.
• Mileage paid for required business travel.
