Job Description
A crop logistic company currently has a great opportunity for a Financial Controller to join its tightly knit team. As an experienced Controller, you will move us from a basic ledger-based business to a comprehensive, strategically aligned organization with a solid financial structure that matches with our growth projections. Our ideal candidate will be extremely organized, possess great leadership qualities, have superior time management skills and work well with our high-performing team to accomplish interdepartmental goals.


Job Responsibilities


  • Both routine and complex review of financial processes to update our internal databases, bank reconciliation, balance sheets, and general ledgers.
  • Overseeing semi-monthly payroll deadlines, invoicing, receivables, and payables.
  • Analysing our current accounting process and financial practices and recommending changes for sustained progressive improvements to operate effectively and efficiently.
  • Optimizing cash flows based on evolving projects and organizational growth.
  • Regularly evaluating, assessing, and maintaining internal controls as well as financial auditing best practices.
  • Developing tools, checks, and policies to ensure that risks are minimized in all financial handling and that any potential threats to monetary flows are proactively monitored and managed.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all sensitive financial data and employee information.
  • Understanding and adhering to all relevant legislation, regulation, corporate policies, and other guidelines.
  • Compiling and preparing weekly, monthly, and yearly reports and summaries as required.
  • Aiding cross-functional operations and executive teams in the creation of yearly budgets, financial forecasts, and period cash flow projections.
  • Providing regular feedback and guidance to the accounting team to promote greater understanding and employee development to achieve common goals that align with WTC Group Inc’s vision, values, and culture.


Qualifications


  • Extensive background with ASPE application for mid-sized organizations as well as a history with Canadian GAAP Accounting Standards is vital for success in this role.
  • A CPA designation is essential, additional certifications such as CMA and CGA would be favourable.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • A post-secondary degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Ability to learn new processes and systems quickly as well as accounting software applications and our internal enterprise resource planning software
  • Previous work in Logistics, Grain, and/ or Trucking industries would be ideal.
  • Professional presentation, written and oral communication skills that can be adapted to different levels within the organization.
  • Previous working knowledge of Quick Books Online (QBO) and some of the advanced supporting tools and controls will be considered an asset.
