Financial Analyst/Accountant Jobs

This is a 6-month contract opportunity

Responsibilities

• Reconcile and support the entire revenue process which includes ensuring the accuracy of calculations, matching and processing payments, and completing various account and sub-ledger reconciliations within the financial system.
• Prepare process narratives, walkthroughs, audit samples and responses to inquiries for external auditors.
• Support the ongoing administration, maintenance and oversight of core financial management systems.
• Develop and prepare various accounting/finance position papers, briefing notes, policies, and internal processes for revenue and expenditures.
• Prepare and calculate HST remittances in compliance with Canada Revenue Agency requirements.
• Complete various ongoing accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury and public disclosure activities.
• Prepare various daily and month-end accounting journal entries, and account and sub-ledger reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Perform revenue and expenditure reporting, planning, and analysis activities including, completing monthly reports, presentations, variance analysis, multi-year budgets, and quarterly forecasts.

Qualifications

• CPA accounting designation (or in progress), and an undergraduate degree in business (or a related field).
• Desire to continually learn new tasks and activities and lead deliverables and projects from start to finish.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively and share information across organizational lines towards shared business outcomes.
• Strong computer skills including knowledge of and experience with computerized financial information systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered an asset.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (e.g. PSAS, IFRS) and auditing standards and the ability to apply them to revenue and expense recording, reporting and analysis.
• Ability to prioritize a variety of competing tasks in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• 3+ years of relevant experience working as a Financial Analyst or Accountant in a full-cycle accounting/finance department.
• Experience utilizing MS Office Suite of programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) at the Intermediate to Advanced Level.
• Analytical skills to compile and analyze data from a variety of sources and prepare reports, summaries and recommendations for management.
• Demonstrated ability to identify financial trends, investigate financial errors, omissions, variances and recommend solutions.
