The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Internal Reporting, this role will work under limited supervision and manage the Internal Reinsurance monthly process and analysis for the US and Canada, general ledger accounting and month-end processing. This role will also prepare Canada Schedule F, account reconciliations, and prepare bordereaux and settlements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provides detailed reconciliation to Liberty Mutual every quarter as part of the Affiliated Reinsurance Elimination signoff process
• Liaise with North American Specialty US to ensure a timely month-end close
• Prepare quarterly Schedule F filings
• General ledger accounting and month-end processing of journal entries for several regions
• Prepare bordereaux for Reel Media program and reconcile all cash settlements
• Work closely with both Internal and External Auditors
• Work on process improvements that allow for more timely and accurate analysis
• Compile monthly Internal Reinsurance files for processing and provide analysis to Liberty Mutual Head Office as needed
• Assist in the forecast and planning process
• Assist in the compilation and analysis of monthly financial statements
• Provide ad-hoc analysis to external Reel Media brokers and address discrepancies

Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven superior communication, presentation, and customer service skills
• High proficiency in the use of MS Excel, MS Access, SAP, Essbase
• Strong business and interpersonal communication skills (written and oral)
• Experience working with automated accounting and reporting systems
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and technical accounting skills
• Ability to work with large volumes of data to derive business solutions
• Ability to identify and solve problems based on analysis (start to finish concept)
• 3+ years of experience in an accounting or similar role in Casualty Insurance; Reinsurance experience an asset
• Strong attention to detail
