The Role at a high level:

We're looking for a Financial Accounting Manager for our Fionic Finance team. This opportunity is a Hybrid full-time role located in our downtown Toronto office. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Group Controller, this role is responsible for analyzing financial statements and predicting the future performance of the company; this may include forecasting future revenues and expenditures as well as modeling capital structure and budgeting and plans.

What you'll be doing:

As a Financial Accounting Manager you will work with the financial and operations team to monitor, evaluate and report on financial statements. You will empower Fionic leaders by building out financial solution best practices. You will also work to oversee the daily operations and accounting activities and help with ad-hoc finance goals. Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update accounting records and files
• Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department
• Prepare documents for audits and liaise with external auditors
• Liaise with local tax and regulatory authorities
• Preparation of regulatory filings
• Maintain and recommend improvements to financial processes
• Examine tax policies and handle tax payments and returns
• Review/Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger
• Maintain and recommend improvements to accounting policies
• Reconcile bank statements
• Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
• Analyze and monitor expense reports
• Research accounting issues and prepare accounting memos
• Report local results to head office
• Manage the production of financial reports and statements and notes
• Monitor, analyze and reconcile accounting data
• Preparation and management of tax filings
• Conduct month-end and year-end close activities
• Maintain and recommend improvements to key internal control processes
• Analyze cash flow and operating budgets
• Preparation of payroll reports and relevant payroll tax reports and filing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in start-ups and fintech
• Knowledge of special purpose entities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel and spreadsheets
• Knowledge of capital markets
• Experience with NetSuite or other ERP accounting software
• Knowledge of IFRS
• Knowledge of financial instruments accounting
• Accounting designation or accounting degree

1. A 30 minutes Phone Screen, with our VP of Human Resources or Talent team
2. A 30 minute Zoom Call with our Fionic Director - an NDA is required at this stage
3. A 2 hour in person Interview/ Excel Modeling exercise with our COO
