Field Service Inspector Jobs

The Opportunity:

Our client, An engineering consulting firm that recognizes the value of its people and fosters continuous growth and personal development is searching for a municipal inspector in Newmarket. The client is expanding their development peer review team, which offers peer review services to local municipalities. As a peer review consultant, we are responsible for evaluating subdivision and site plan designs on behalf of municipalities and ensuring that developers adhere to municipal criteria and sound engineering practices.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Attending construction site meetings and serving as a liaison between municipal staff, developers, engineering consultants, contractors, and residents.
• Reviewing and responding to homeowner inquiries.
• Independently managing time, organizing work, and completing multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Tracking the status of inspections across different sites and monitoring the status of all developments, including assumption requirements.
• Effectively communicating orally and in writing with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Utilizing your understanding of construction inspection protocols, such as sewer, watermain, roads, and lot grading.
• Processing applications for site alteration permits, building permit clearance, and occupancy permit clearance.
• Demonstrating knowledge of municipal subdivision and site plan/development agreements, as well as municipal processes.
• Ensuring compliance with Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications and Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
• Conducting inspections related to maintenance commencement and assumption of services.
• This role involves spending time in the field conducting construction servicing reviews and performing administrative duties in the office.
• Handling requests for maintenance commencement, assumption, and security reductions for developments.
• Providing written correspondence with municipal staff, developers, and consultants.
• Senior Field Services Representative to oversee the construction and administration of new subdivisions/site plans for our municipal clients.
• Monitoring the on-site progress of construction in various developments and preparing detailed status reports.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

• Possession of a valid driver's license and regular access to a vehicle for commuting to project locations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of the Ontario Provincial Standard Specifications.
• Comprehensive understanding of municipal subdivision and site plan/development agreements and processes.
• Familiarity with Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• 7 years of experience in construction inspection, with a focus on subdivision construction (sewer, watermain, roads, and lot grading) and associated testing protocols.
• Ability to independently manage time, organize work, and handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Diploma/certificate in Civil Technology or a related program.
