Executive Director, Clean Technology
Alberta Innovates (AI) is seeking an Executive Director, Clean Technology to be responsible for the development and execution of Clean Technology programs, projects and operations to support the realization of the broader department and organizational strategic priorities, identify and drive innovative opportunities, and build and leverage strong stakeholder relations to enable the achievement of desired outcomes.

- Develops relationships with external partners and stakeholders to collaborate on innovation, deliver programs, leverage resources, and maximize outcomes and impacts.
- Develops opportunities to drive/enhance innovation and key technologies
- Ensures management and administrative processes, standards and protocols are established to support Clean Technology project/program development and implementation
- Oversees the development and implementation of Clean Technology short and long term plans and strategies, developing goals, performance measures, and implementation tactics
- Manages operational, capital and staff budgets and reporting activities for the department
- Oversees the management of staff activities, ensuring team and individual goals and objectives are established
Qualifications;
- Business management oversight and acumen and business case development skills
- Strategic thinker and results oriented; ability to identify innovative solutions to complex issues
- A Master's degree or MBA is preferred
- Experience working within an innovation environment that requires balancing scientific, technical, marketing, and business development components preferred
- Experience leading and directing large, complex and multi-year initiatives with multiple stakeholders preferred
- Ability to be tactful, diplomatic and persuasive
- Flexible and adaptable to the dynamic and changing environment
- Minimum 10 years broad based technical, operations and business management experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, senior leaders and external partners
- 8 years progressive management experience
- Facilitation and presentation skills
- Ability to define a Clean Technology program vision and translate it to concrete deliverables
- Business Development experience is an asset
- Strong leadership and influencing skills
- Ability to facilitate and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
