The Opportunity

Reports to: Board of Directors

Direct Reports: Approximately 15

Location: Hinton, AB



Mandate

The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of the organization, including fundraising, financial oversight and management, staff leadership and management, program sustainability and growth, and community relationships. The Hinton Friendship Centre (HFC) works with local health care providers, social service providers and other community partners to provide pathways to uplift, empower, and support urban Indigenous people through healthy, happy and culturally connected spaces within our community.



Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees the daily operations and staff and serves as executive level management for all programs;
  • Leverages funding relationships and community partnerships to drive increased service delivery; and
  • Directs and shapes systems to promote an organizational culture that supports continuous improvement;
  • Utilizes technology to improve processes, report metrics, and deliver value to funders and the community.
  • Directs the development and implementation of strategic goals, vision, performance measures, strategies, policies, and initiatives;
  • Fosters a culture of teamwork and efficiency with a strong sense of doing the right thing for each client;



First Year Deliverables / Measures of Success

Success in the first year will be determined by the candidate’s ability to:

  • Gain trust and support from our team and board of directors.
  • Establish good relationships within our Community;
  • Create new ways to raise funds and manage strategic financials; and
  • Facilitate and finalize the strategic planning;



Candidate Profile

The Ideal Candidate:

For this important role, the HFC seeks a credible, unifying people leader who is deeply committed to the success of the organization. Candidates should bring strength in external relations and internal management with an ability to balance the two. Indigenous people are encouraged to apply.


Experience:

  • Experience in community outreach and relationship building;
  • Volunteer management; and
  • Ability to negotiate agreements with funders.
  • Proven fiscal management;
  • A strong background in the non-profit sector, preferably with Indigenous populations;
