Job Description

Event Designer (freelance) - Vancouver, BC

Flyberry Events is a leading event agency specializing in creating extraordinary and unforgettable experiences. We are committed to delivering innovative, sustainable, and visually stunning events that captivate audiences worldwide.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Event Designer to join our team. As an Event Designer, you will work closely with our Founder, Ally R. Potel, to conceptualize, design, and execute creative, memorable, and sustainable events. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, but it requires the ability to attend site visits and collaborate with clients and vendors on location.

Role and responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Founder and Creative Director on initial concept brainstorms and ideation to ensure seamless coordination between the design vision and practical event logistics, including lighting, sound, staging, and décor.

  • Lead the entire design project lifecycle, from ideation to final execution, ensuring that event designs are visionary, creative and align with client expectations, brand objectives, sustainability goals and budget.

  • Conduct site visits and assess event locations to gather necessary information for designing immersive and visually appealing event experiences.

  • Utilize software and design tools to create 3D renderings, floor plans and mood boards, select furniture and décor.

  • Stay updated on the latest event design trends, technologies, and sustainable practices, integrating them into Flyberry Events' design approach to enhance the overall event experience.

  • Engage in regular client meetings and presentations to articulate detailed design concepts, receive feedback, and make necessary adjustments to meet client expectations.

  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks, and adhering to deadlines.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other event partners to source unique materials, props, and décor items that align with Flyberry Events' sustainability values.

  • Assist in budget management by providing accurate cost estimates for design elements.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as an Event Designer, preferably within a high-end event agency or a similar creative industry. Proven track record of creative execution in experiential event design and brand experience

  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), or equivalent tools.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing a diverse range of event design projects, including 3D renderings, floor plans, and other visual representations.

  • In-depth knowledge of event production processes, including lighting, sound, staging, and décor, and the ability to collaborate effectively with production teams.

  • Familiarity with sustainable design practices and a passion for incorporating environmentally friendly elements into event design.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and engage clients effectively (both written and oral)

  • Highly creative, with a keen eye for aesthetics, trends, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and meeting deadlines.

  • Willingness to travel for site visits and occasional on-site event management.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Availability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed.

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Design, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.

This is a freelance, remote position based in Vancouver. Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications. Joining Flyberry Events offers you an opportunity to grow the dynamic agency with its founder, to push boundaries, embrace innovation, and create extraordinary events. If you are passionate about event design, sustainability, and want to collaborate with visionary professionals, we encourage you to apply.

This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The Event Designer may perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the agency.
