Job Description
Distillery Events, part of The Distillery Restaurants Corporation, creators of El Catrin Destileria, Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill, District Pizza, Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie and Madrina Bar y Tapas, is growing and we are looking for our next Senior Line Cooks and Chefs de Partie.


We are actively seeking experienced and motivated senior culinary professionals who loves food, takes pride in their growing craft, and wants to contribute to a high-achieving, team-oriented events crew. Our events venues are located in the Distillery Historic District, one of Canada's most exciting art and shopping destinations and home to some of the top ranked restaurants and events venues in the City of Toronto. Whether it be an intimate cocktail party, a corporate event for hundreds, a product launch, or a glamorous wedding, each and every one of our events are unique as we cater to our guests' specific needs.


Please note: You must already have legal permission to work in Canada to be considered for this role.


What You’ll Experience With The DRC

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour, plus tip out, and food discounts at all our restaurants.

Learn under the guidance of Distillery Events’ Executive Chef, Justin Borg, and the DRC’s talented Executive Chef team led by Chef Tim Miles (Director of Culinary).

Greatest Dish Challenge: A monthly cooking competition open to all DRC cooks with a CASH prize. This is also a great opportunity to challenge yourself and have a panel of DRC Executive Chefs to try your food.

Yes, you read that right – field trips! Selected employees get the chance to visit artisan food producers, cooking demos, farms and suppliers to educate and inspire.

What You'll Be Doing


+


Maintaining established standards for the restaurant and assisting with new objectives


+


Supporting product, menu and recipe development


+


Assisting with ordering and inventory


+


Ensuring the kitchen is run according to health and safety regulations - giving necessary safety, hygiene and sanitation training to other staff members as needed


+


Ensuring proper handling of equipment and utensils - training staff as needed


+


Performing routine checks on opening, closing and cleaning duties and checklists to see they are completed fully and to standards


+


Co-ordinates ordering, mise-en-place, and task/assignment delegation ensuring production is on schedule


+


Following FIFO (first in, first out) method to maximize freshness


+


Working closely with cooks to ensure daily operations run smoothly and all food quality standards are met


+


Assisting with training


+


Other duties as assigned


What we would like you to bring to the kitchen:


+


EDUCATION.


You have a degree/diploma in Culinary Management or an equivalent mix of education and experience.


You've also got your Food Handlers certificate.

Experience.


You've got 3 – 5 years of event/banquet/catering experience as a Senior Line Cook and/or CDP.

LEADERSHIP.


You have some supervisory and training experience.


You're an exceptional leader with a great track record for relationship building and communication skills.
