Factum Builders


We are a commercial cladding (siding) company, based in Ottawa Canada. Our scope of work includes the exteriors of restaurants, retail stores, schools, warehousing, and manufacturing.

Our clients are usually large general contractors.

What we are looking for.

  • Extremely good interpersonal skills.
  • System and process oriented. Able to build and maintain systems.
  • Someone who can meet deadlines, most of our projects have hard deadlines for when we must submit our bids.
  • Someone who is highly detail oriented.
  • Extremely thorough, as mistakes in quantity or material type can have major consequences.


Software that our estimator will be using:

  • Google Drive is where we store and share files.
  • QuickBooks online.
  • Asana.
  • Excel.
  • Planswift.


What you will be responsible for.

The overall goal for our estimators is to estimate projects profitably and accurately[HR4].

This includes:

  • Conduct a thorough project take-off, including detailed review of the specifications to ensure we are pricing all the correct products.
  • Attending site visits
  • Requesting material pricing from suppliers.
  • Building out new and better systems, we are continually improving our processes and you will be a key player in helping continually improve our estimating system.
  • Review projects for cost savings and materials alternates opportunities.
  • Estimating labour based on our internal historical data. This gets entered into the same excel spreadsheet.[HR5]
  • Building out the client's estimates in Quickbooks.
  • Enter the take-off information (material quantities) into our excel spreadsheet.


Position Requirements

  • Minimum requirement construction technician diploma.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as intermediate or senior estimator.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • P.Eng., CET, Quantity surveying designation preferred but not mandatory for role.
