Term of App't: Monday - Friday, 30 hours per week
Start Date: August 21, 2023
Reporting to: Associate Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs
Salary
$65,274.00 - $77,536.00 annual starting wage, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement (annual increments up to a maximum salary of $99,968.00). Vacation entitlement is 240 hours annually (pro-rated from hire date for current year). We offer paid time off between Christmas and New Year's, and an excellent extended health and dental package. Enrolment in the College Pension Plan is mandatory, with basic contributions matched by the employer.
Description
Northern Lights College is seeking to hire two instructors to teach English as a Second Language on our Fort St John campus.
The English as a Second Language program provides Second Language students a pathway to academic success in post-secondary programming. The program is delivered by highly trained EASL instructors in small classes that focus on inclusion and community. By completing this program, students will meet the English entrance requirements for a variety of post-secondary programs at Northern Lights College and will enhance their communications skills for employment.
Required
Qualifications:
  • Current and valid driver's license.
  • Ability to collaborate as an effective team member; and
  • Committed to student motivation and success.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, plus a TESL certificate
  • Must have English as a first language
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential; and
  • Master's Degree in English, or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrable success in teaching at the post-secondary level
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
