Pay Rate
- Support and respond to site emergences including but not limited to fires, technical rescue, hazmat and medical responses.
- Remain current with industry skills, education and practices involving Fire, Technical Rescue and Medical Response.
- Maintain visibility and actively engaged with all levels of the organization around emergency response needs.
- Participate in outage and project planning for emergency response resourcing and support.
- Schedule inspections, testing and replacement of SCBA and fire equipment.
- Manage the local Emergency Response Plan, including facilitating training, practice drills, capturing lessons learned and regular updates.
- Lead fire investigations, share incident learnings, develop, and execute corrective action planning.
- Support ERT recruitment and actively promote ERT mill communications.
- Inspect and maintain the inventory of ERT equipment and supplies.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the mill Emergency Response and Risk Management programs while adhering to company expectations and applicable legislation.
- Assess risk related to emergency response and fire protection, and develop contingency plans.
- Participate in the EHS team weekend on call rotation, approximately every 8 weeks.
- Develop emergency response SOPs/SOGs, training of those expectations, and chair post-event de-briefings.
- Manage financial aspects of the Emergency Response Team including capital resource plan, retirement plans of assets, and annual budgeting.
- Develop and/or support the development of rescue plans (confined space and working at height) and confined space ventilation plans.
- Manage emergency response related equipment inventory and assurance of inspection programs such as fire extinguishers, Automated External Defibrillators, and hose stations.
- Liaise with the internal and external key stakeholders such as the insurance provider and local fire authorities.
- Manage Emergency Response Team (ERT) rosters, skill development, and training, including training content, scheduling, and course delivery and training record retention.
- Advanced First Aid training is an asset
- Ability to work independently
- NFPA 1001 Level 1 and Level 2 certified
- 5+ years’ experience as an Emergency Responder
- ICS 200 or ISC 300 is an asset
- Strong knowledge of Fire Protection, Fire, Rescue, Medical and Hazmat response.
- NFPA 1006 certified is an asset
- Experience as an Emergency Response Team member in an industrial setting is an asset
- Proficient in MS Office and ability to learn new computer programs and systems
- Recognized as a strong safety leader

- 5+ years’ experience in emergency program development
