Position Snapshot
The ER Technician supports our high hazard emergency response team, including transferring various types of hazardous materials in the field for railcar, highway transports and fixed facility emergencies. This also includes fire suppression with the successful execution of sound firefighting and response strategies. This is completed through the development of an action plan with thorough risk assessment, safety planning, scientific and practical experience. You must be willing to operate within the various roles of the ICS structure. Maintain updated knowledge of safety guidelines, chemical compatibility, air monitoring, transfer techniques and container/product identification. This position requires the ability and willingness to travel, and work extended hours when needed.
Day in the Life
Once You Arrive Ready To Work, And Clock In, You Can Expect To
Each day is different some days will start at the shop, while others at a job site.
  • Sweep, clean and/or shovel materials
  • Confirm all necessary equipment and supplies are in your gear bag
  • Perform general housekeeping and maintenance of the offices, warehouses, yards and ER vehicles (stocked and ready to roll)
  • Provide maintenance as needed on equipment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Always be on-standby for the next ER job
  • Perform office paperwork and report writing as needed
  • Check in and review the day's safety plan
  • Review the job assignment with your leader
  • Ensure the work area is safe at all times
  • Operate a forklift, skid steer or other machinery as needed
  • Complete rig checks and update inventories of all assets
What You Need To Apply
  • Firefighting/hazmat experience preferred
  • Ability to wear a respirator/SCBA as needed
  • Computer/office skills preferred
  • Class 1 license preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to pass pre-employment background checks
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including overtime and weekends
