Job Description
Our client, a major company within the Oil and Gas industry, is looking for an Emergency Response Technician to work on a 1-year contract in Fort Saskatchewan, AB.


Main Responsibilities: Ensures site emergency response teams are adequately trained, exercised and available Align programs with corporate and departmental objectives, strategies and initiatives. Contribute to development, maintenance, implementation and communication of a strategic emergency management and business continuity plans. Act as subject matter expert for industrial emergency response. Coordinate and assist with the update, development and implementation of manuals and procedures. Participate and/or coordinate the awareness and educational topics related to emergency response. Conducts inspections of the facility and identifies deficiencies and works with operations and maintenance to resolve. Drive and operate fire apparatus in conformance with the site rules and regulations. Lead in the maintenance of fire and rescue apparatus, tools, and equipment, keeping equipment in good operating and safe condition. Keeps the fire hall and related grounds, facilities, and supplies in a clean, orderly, and useable condition. Performs routine non-firefighting work tasks willingly and adequately such as working on company records, procedures, maintaining maps and other documented information about the types and locations of buildings and facilities, and in pre-planning fire suppression activities. Coordinate emergency response training/exercises with the Emergency Response Coordinator Facilitates an evaluation of each emergency or drill, writes reports and follows action items to completion. Conduct monthly emergency response training/exercises that will consist of the following: Technical rope rescue Fire response Spill response Fire pump operations Haz-Mat response Table top Incident Management/Command Team Muster Lead in the inspection, testing and maintenance of fire suppression systems: Assist in the development of a fire water & hydrant maintenance program. Hydrant monitor inspections and flush Fire hydrant winterization in the fall. Flush hydrants in the spring and ensure that the fire water pumps are on an annual maintenance schedule. Fire extinguisher monthly inspections and work with contractor on annual inspections. Inspection of fire alarm panels and fixed fire suppression system. Maintenance and Repair of SCBA and SABA. (emergency and working packs) Ensures mask are cleaned and disinfected. Daily inspections of the fire apparatus, ensuring it is cleaned and maintained daily, and after each use. Engage fire pump daily and ensure pump and truck are ready for response Ensure a qualified fire apparatus maintenance technician inspects the truck annually. Inspects all rescue equipment to check for defects, cuts, swelling, damage wear and corrosion due to use, heat and sun exposure, and contact with chemicals. Keep a written record of the inspection. Lead the Site Emergency Response teams at any emergency or non- emergency scene. Respond to incidents in a professional, timely, and safe manner, which includes but is not limited to: fire, dangerous goods release, medical assistance, high angle rescue. Respond to fire alarms in buildings and ensure panels are operating as required. Company focus with contract security resources. Assist safety department with investigations related to emergency response. Main Requirements: 5-10 years of Industrial firefighting experience and emergency response in Chemical plant or Refinery. NFPA 1081 Industrial Firefighter NFPA 472 Hazmat Technician NFPA 1006 Rope Rescue Technician NFPA 1002 Driver/Pump Operator ICS 300 Medical First Responder (MFR) or Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Proficient with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook) Skill in the operation of firefighting, rescue, and medical equipment Must possess and maintain a valid class 3Q driver’s license Additional Qualifications
