Summary
Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent, the Electrical Engineer is a key position for the improvement and execution of existing Mill Electrical system reliability and predictive maintenance systems and for overall site electrical engineering support.
The Electrical Engineer is a "hands on" role. This position will be a part of and support the Mill Maintenance team focusing on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution for electrical issues in the Mill. This position also plays a key role in continuous improvement and performance excellence and is an excellent opportunity to apply current knowledge and gain valuable additional experience.
Key Responsibilities
·Actively participate in all Environmental, Health, and Safety aspects of the mine and ensure all safety procedures and programs are effectively being followed,
·Assist in the development and improvement of current preventative and predictive maintenance methodologies and work practices,
·Review data using statistical tools and make recommendations to improve systems and functions,
·Implement measures to baseline maintenance performance and improve targets such as safety, cost, quality, and downtime,
·Utilize and improve equipment risk assessment techniques to assist management in the effective allocation of resources,
·Use metrics to help drive business decisions,
·Audit and develop preventative maintenance strategies through equipment tracking and work order reviews,
·Integral team member in short and long term electrical planning,
•Provide support to and participate in a culture of safety, collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance,
•Provide electrical engineering support to projects and overall site operations from time to time,
•Design and approve site extensions to site power line moves and extensions,
•Develop, evaluate, and incorporate energy improvement initiatives.
Education & Experience
·Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering field,
·Minimum of four (4) years of experience working with electrical systems and electrical maintenance,
·P. Eng designation or working towards obtaining one within one (1) year of commencing employment with Copper Mountain Mine,
·Experience working in a Mining environment is preferred,
·Possess a valid class 5 BC driver’s license or equivalent.
Required Skills
·Excellent communication, organizational skills and computer skills,
·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Knowledge of statistical analysis is required,
·Ability to work in and with cross-functional teams,
·Ability to collaborate with other support groups,
·Strong work ethic and the ability to excel in a fast paced environment.
Working Conditions
·Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as noise and working in dusty and wet environments,
·Work will require to be clean-shaven,
·Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
