Your opportunity
Dillon’s Transportation & Facilities technical group is looking for an Electrical Designer/EIT – Lighting and Traffic Signals to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available at any of the following Dillon offices in Ontario: Toronto, London, Kitchener, Windsor, Chatham, Kingston, Ottawa or Guelph.
Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Design and Project Coordination
  • Prepare wiring diagrams and electrical details
  • Design of low voltage electrical distribution design for subdivisions
  • Design of traffic signals and illumination
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request
  • Coordinate a variety of multi-disciplinary projects for both public and private sector clients
  • Site visits and contract administration
  • Prepare contract documents and specifications
  • Voltage drop calculations
  • Contribute to the technical expertise on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects including:
  • Prepare lighting and traffic signal layouts
  • Photometric analysis of lighting systems
Learning & Development
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
  • 1 - 3 years of professional experience, preferably in the consulting industry is considered an asset
  • IMSA Certifications in Traffic Signal Level I and Level II Design, Roadway Lighting Technician Level I and Level II are considered an asset
  • A degree in electrical engineering
Experience
  • Knowledge of various municipal and MTO lighting and traffic signal design standards
  • Knowledge of ANSI/IES, Transportation Association of Canada standards and Ontario Electrical Safety Code as they relate to lighting and traffic signals
  • Abilities in project management/coordination
  • Proven experience in the design of traffic signals and illumination
  • Knowledge of MTO Contract Preparation System (CPS)
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential
  • Knowledge of AGi32 and other lighting calculation programs
