Job Description

Benjamin Moore &Co., is seeking a Regional EHS&S Manager to coordinate and oversee EHS and Security programs at distribution centers located in Concord, ON, Montreal, QC, Aldergrove, BC, Winnipeg, Edmonton, AB, and Dartmouth, NS. The preferred base for this position is Ontario, Canada.

Position Summary

The Regional EHSS Manager will provide program management, technical oversight, and expertise to assist regional site leadership in the prevention of injuries, illness, and incidents, improvement of health and safety safeguards, and overall regulatory compliance. The position is responsible for helping to drive improved safety culture and for managing standardized EHS&S processes to ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal legislation as well as corporate policies and standards.

Responsibilities

The Regional EHSS Manager will report to the Corporate EHSS Director- Operations and will have the following responsibilities not limited to:

  • Provide environmental-related support including compliance with permits, operating conditions, sampling, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct periodic environmental health and safety inspections and support managers/ leads in ensuring all corrective actions are tracked and resolved to completion. Participate in internal regulatory EHSS site audits, in coordination with the Corporate EHS&S Compliance team.
  • Observe and coach site leadership and employees in hazard recognition and risk assessment identifying possible safety concerns/areas of improvement.
  • Oversee/implement local EHSS training programs and assessments to ensure required training is conducted. Conduct applicable training courses on-site as needed.
  • Oversee Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) related claims, Joint Health Safety Committee (JHSC) Meetings and Early Safe Return to Work (ESRTW) program
  • Manage and monitor site-specific EHSS records and documentation including training records and compliance reports.
  • Lead prevention projects to improve EHSS key performance metrics.
  • Maintain current and accurate information on the company’s Incident Management System and work with site leadership on timely reporting and investigation of loss events such as injuries, spills, and near-miss events.
  • Act as subject matter expert on municipal, provincial, and federal legislation, including Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&SA), for all Canadian operating sites.

Required Skills:

  • Highly collaborative spirit with a strong team and interpersonal skills
  • Experience leading projects, teams, and committees
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or other software
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety preferred or relevant year of experience.
  • Minimum 5 -7 years experience with progressive responsibilities in safety, environment, engineering or related experience in distribution centers or similar environments.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or equivalent designation preferred
  • This position will require regular travel between job sites and is expected to spend a minimum of 65% of working hours providing on-site support.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Fully bilingual (English/French), written/spoken/reading comprehension
