THE OPPORTUNITY
At Scovan’s Drafting Team, our mission is to deliver innovative designs and high quality project deliverables. It’s about looking at things from a different perspective, execution and exceeding client expectations. We have a diverse team of creative and knowledgeable designers that are constantly looking at different ways to do things better – to design better.
We are looking for a vibrant checker that not only has the technical know-how in design but someone who leads with good vibes and great energy. In this role, you will work directly with the design team providing checking support across a wide variety of engineering and drafting deliverables. This is a hands-on role – we’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to get in the trenches and lead by example.
The role will report directly to the Drafting Manager.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all drawings are prepared in accordance with Scovan Standards and Specifications;
- Pursue design and drafting excellence. Be relentless in pursuit of opportunities to optimize, quality control and practice efficiencies that help reduce overall costs and increases the quality of drafting deliverables;
- Support the Drafting Team, performing quality and consistency checks on engineering and design drawings;
- Provide technical guidance to drafters as required;
- Adapt to the unique checking requirements as required – design autonomy is very important, it’s not about changing the design, it’s about optimizing it and working with the designer.
- Identify potential operational barriers and improve on the reliability of our design and drawings;
QUALIFICATIONS
- To provide leadership for the Drafting Team;
- Take initiative, advocate and exemplify teamwork, innovative thinking and problem solving.
- To take ownership of the results and to work to improve future results;
- Hold either a degree, diploma or certificate from an accredited institution;
- Proficient in the use of electronic mark-up systems such as Bluebeam or Brava;
- Experienced and knowledgeable in Piping, Civil and Structural Design;
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software;
- Proficient in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, CADWorx Plant;
- Minimum of ten (10) years of design and drafting experience;
