Job Description
A career in our Forensic Consulting Generalist practice, within Fraud, Investigations and Regulatory Enforcement (FIRE) services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients understand where they might have vulnerabilities and develop solutions to manage the risks involved. We prevent, respond to and remediate a wide range of business threats, risks and complex issues. Our forensic specialists provide solutions and support for clients dealing with regulatory and crisis situations. As part of the team, you’ll help provide support to our clients who wish to investigate potential financial crime, support clients responding to regulatory enquiries, deal with cybersecurity breaches and provide expert advice and opinions in legal proceedings. You’ll also help clients review and remediate systems and controls to prevent further issues.


Meaningful work you’ll be part of


As a Disputes & Litigation Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Prepare capitalized earrings, cash flow and valuation models to arrive at estimates of value
  • Apply accounting and auditing skills, in a forensic capacity, on specific projects
  • Attend briefings and report presentations to clients, both internal and external
  • Assist in report preparation, including reports used as expert evidence in dispute matters
  • Assist with the design and development of well-supported financial analysis
  • Engage clients in discussions around their business, including operations and financial items to further our valuation analysis
  • Conduct financial research into industry and general economic conditions, oil and gas benchmarks, discount rates/cost of capital, valuation multiples for relevant public companies and precedent transactions
  • Understand the business/assets being valued, its historical and projected performance as well as key strengths and challenges
  • Perform client pre-acceptance procedures including conflict checks and drafting engagement letters
  • Perform audit support work including the review of purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment assessments and private equity portfolio company valuations


Experiences And Skills You’ll Use To Solve


  • Strong technical/analytical and project management skills, an ability to analyze business situations and a professional and personable demeanour to interact with clients and work effectively in teams
  • Experience in a professional services firm is preferred
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, counsel, or other parties
  • University degree in business, accounting or finance
  • Experience with Alteryx, Tableau and Microsoft Power BI would be an advantage
  • A demonstrated commitment to valuing differences and working alongside and/or coaching diverse people and perspectives
  • CA/CPA or equivalent accounting designation preferred
  • An ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure
  • Enrollment in the Chartered Business Valuator and/or Chartered Financial Analyst programs
  • Strong financial analysis/modeling skills and understanding of financial statements
