Our reputable Vancouver non-profit client is seeking an interim Director of Finance to join the organization immediately. For the right person, this interim role could lead to a permanent full-time position in the same capacity. This contract opportunity will be providing financial leadership in managing budgets, overseeing upcoming audits, all accounting functions, and conducting forecast analysis. In addition, as a member of the Executive Team, the Director of Finance will participate in the strategic planning process across departments and will maintain and report on key financial metrics. This critical role also strategically oversees IT operations and a few upcoming organizational transformation projects.
You will be managing a team of 5 while reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. What you get to do every day

• Supervise the annual/quarterly/monthly budgeting and forecasting processes
• Provide regular reports to internal and board stakeholders on the company's key financial metrics
• Work to drive financial performance by developing operating and financial metrics, analyzing results and trends to create impactful insights, reporting results to executive leadership and key stakeholders, and improving forecasting and modeling accuracy
• Generate and sustain adherence to the company's accounting policies and procedures
• Develop detailed business unit projections, highlight risks/opportunities, and oversee the preparation of relevant materials
• Generate operational and long-term budgets and forecasts for the organization with the executive team and then monitor and report on performance against those budgets
• Create professional relationships with the company's bankers, auditors, government agencies, and other professional organizations

Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you are a designated accountant (CPA or equivalent), with at least 10+ years of full-cycle accounting experience and financial reporting, and year-end responsibilities. You are comfortable working independently and can provide mentorship, and guidance to junior staff as needed.

• Bachelor or Business Administration degree with a specialization in Finance or Accounting
• Strong communication (written and verbal) skills to interact clearly and effectively in a fast-changing environment
• Detail-oriented and high attention to accuracy are a must
• Must have strong integrity, confidentially, and accountability
• CPA designation or MBA highly preferred
• Must be skilled in analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution
